Carbon Valley Learn to Swim Program
| Provides a safe and fun environment for you
or your child to learn the fundamentals of
swimming as well as learning self-confidence and
satisfaction in conquering the task of learning.
We try to promote personal development and
learning of a lifetime skill that can enhance
your life and that of your child. Join us for
this adventure in the emotional and physical
growth. An accessible lift for the pools is
available for those who need help entering the
pools. |
American Red Cross Swim Lessons-Protect your
child, teach them to swim
Classes held Mon-Thurs evenings, classes
also offered Mon-Thurs & Sat mornings. Some pool
areas & lap lanes may be reserved or
non-operational during swim lessons. Areas not
being used for lessons are available for open
swim.
Dress: Swim diapers for younger swimmers or
tight fitting plastic pants and a swimsuit are
absolutely necessary, t-shirts are allowed.
Licensed daycare rate for swim lessons: With a
copy of daycare license on file the daycare will
pay 20% less than the regular lesson fee.
Registrations will be
accepted May 13-May 28-Lessons beginning
week of June 2nd.
Classes not meeting minimum number of
students will be cancelled. Children may be
moved to the same day upon parents approval or
refund will be granted.
All children will be tested the first day for
correct placement.
PLEASE NO SICK CHILDREN IN CLASS—NO MAKE-UP
LESSONS WILL BE OFFERED
ONCE A WEEK FOR 8 WEEKS —CLASS SIZE WILL BE 6-10
STUDENTS PER CLASS
Registrations that come in late will be put on a
waiting list. If the participant is able to be
placed in a class, a $5 late fee will be
applied.
It is strongly recommended
to bring your child in to swim in our pool so
that they will have a higher comfort level in
the water before participating in swim lessons.

Jump into chest deep water from the side, swim
front crawl for 15 yards with face in the water
and rhythmic breathing pattern (to front or
side), maintain position by treading water or
floating for 30 sec, and swim back and crawl for
15 yards.

Start Breast Stroke; Start butterfly; Elementary
backstroke

L4 Exit Skills
Perform a feet-first entry into chest- deep
water, swim front crawl for 25 yards, maintain
position on back for 1 minute in deep water
(float or sculling) and swim elementary
backstroke for 15 yards, tread water for 1
minute and swim back crawl for 25 yards.
L5
All strokes 2-3 lengths of the pool.
Strokes more refined.
L5 Exit Skills
Perform a shallow dive into deep water, swim
front crawl for 50 yards, maintain position on
back for 2 minutes in deep water (float or
scull) and swim elementary backstroke for 25
yards. Swim breast stroke for 25 yards, tread
water for 2 minutes and swim back crawl for 50
yards.

WATER SAFETY
All strokes 3-4 lengths of the pool
Fundamentals of diving; strokes, turns, front
tuck dive, front pike dive.
LIFEGUARD READINESS
Strokes, turns, surface dive, basic lifesaving
skills
FITNESS SWIMMER
Strokes, turns, target heart rate principles of
water exercise.
