What makes BMX special?
There are many reasons that make the sport of BMX special. First, everyone can do it! There are two year olds, and seventy year olds. Boys and girls, and men and women of every size, shape, and color. They come from any background, and nearly every country.
There is nothing like seeing a child holding up their first trophy. Grinning a mile wide, a sense of accomplishment like no other. Sometimes the accomplishment might be just making it around the track without crashing. That’s the thing about BMX; it’s a series of goals, of reaching them, checking them off, and setting another one.

BMX is family. Families spend the day together at the races watching one or more members race. Sometimes one family member starts racing and before long, the whole family is racing! It’s a lot of fun watching Mom battle it out for first place with a couple of other Moms!

The other aspect to BMX “family” is the team. There are many BMX teams that one can join. A BMX team can become a family in many ways. Team members spend many hours together at the races in their team area called a “pit.” Teams often travel together, and over the course of many years, a team truly begins to feel like family. BMX allows everyone to be who they are, go at their own pace. Some are just in it for the fun, weekend warriors who get on the bike at the local track on Saturday for a good time. There are also those that go to every race and travel to as many Nationals as they can. Work out, practice hard, and live for their sport. In BMX a rider is allowed to do either, no one judges. The community supports everyone.
As the newest Olympic sport, some get into BMX for a lifelong commitment. To be the best there is. To reach for the stars and dream that one day, they may represent the USA on the greatest platform in the world. BMX is also moving into colleges, which means scholarships and college teams. This is a very exciting time in the BMX world.

Yes, BMX is pretty special.
